Bargaining

Bargaining Update

I am disappointed to say there has been no movement from the employer since the mediation hearings in May 2015.  PSAC/UTE, your bargaining team, are willing to return to negotiate a FAIR contract for you, one that will not mean giving up benefits and receiving nothing of value in return.  It is disrespectful to you, the membership, and your bargaining team for the CRA to expect us to do so.  In order to exert some pressure to get CRA back to the table we have been filing grievances, e-mailing and tweeting the commissioner, holding local events in support of our bargaining tea

Bargaining Update

Since our last update on April 2nd, we have been getting some enquiries from the membership on why we have not released any details or information about what the employer has offered, if anything.

During negotiations, it is normal practise not to release details of what has been exchanged in the way of proposals etc., especially since most is done on a without-prejudice basis.  At this time, both parties have agreed not to release any details.

Bargaining Update - National Committee meets and establishment of the Bargaining Team

Sisters, Brothers and Friends,

The Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) National Bargaining Committee met this week to discuss and prioritize the demands received from our members. The preliminary package of demands will soon be finalized and sent to the PSAC Collective Bargaining Department.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all members of the committee for their great work.

Bargaining update - Summer 2019

Sisters and Brothers,

I hope your summer is going well and you are able to enjoy some time with friends and family.

We have received official notice from the Federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board that our hearing dates for the Public Interest Commission (PIC) have been set for January 6th and 20th, 2020.  This is really the same timeline as the other tables that are heading to the PIC.  While we are disappointed with the incredibly long timelines throughout this process the dates are set.

Bargaining Update from our 2nd National Vice President

As the UTE 2nd National Vice President responsible for bargaining, I am writing to all members to give you an update on our negotiations.

We are trying to keep you informed of our attempts to return to the table and we understand that everyone is frustrated with the length of time this round of bargaining is taking. I am committing to you that I will post on the UTE website an update every two weeks. These updates may not contain any new information but they will keep you up to date.

To date:

Brothers and Sisters:

It has been a long time since I have written in regards to the state of our negotiations, or the lack thereof, and I have received some enquiries as to the status of them.

Bargaining update: Establishment of a Public Interest Commission

Hello Sisters, Brothers and Friends,

As you are probably aware, our PSAC-UTE bargaining team announced last month that we have declared impasse in our negotiations for the renewal of our contract with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The CRA took the position that we are not at impasse – this after them refusing to agree to address any of our core issues and telling us to wait months for their response on our wage proposal.
