Bargaining Update from our 2nd National Vice President

Sisters and Brothers,

Our exchange of bargaining demands is fast approaching!  On Wednesday June 20th we will present our package of demands to the employer and they will present theirs.  We will provide explanations for each of our demands and reasons why we believe they will improve the benefits for our members.  We commit to posting our demands and their demands online, for all members to see, shortly thereafter.  This is your contract and your voice.  The demands included in our presentation have come from locals all across the country.  This was an incredibly positive process in which the membership really gave us direction on what was important.

We enter these discussions with cautious optimism but also with the conviction that we are fighting for better conditions and better pay for the membership, not less.  Solidarity will make the difference.

After our June dates we have also set up meetings with the employer in July and September.  We will work efficiently and strategically within those dates.  No further dates are scheduled this far out but as the summer progresses I would anticipate more additions.

I intend to send out a monthly email just as an update to the extent that I can, over the bargaining period.  It is really just to connect with you and let you know what, if anything, is happening that month or if any advances have been made.  Even in the event nothing is happening at the table you will still hear from me.

On behalf of the bargaining team, thank you for your support and let’s get a solid contract!

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or comments.

My Contract - My Voice

In Solidarity,

Adam Jackson
