In regards to the message from CRA

Thursday, May 12, 2016

In regards to the message from CRA.

By now, you would have likely seen the message from the Commissioner of the CRA concerning the Memorandum of Settlement with respect to your collective agreement. Once again, the Commissioner has used the CRA email system to disseminate selective information on our bargaining to all employees. This is the second time in the last year that the employer has done this in an attempt to manipulate the bargaining process.

Message from the National President

Monday, May 2, 2016

First I would like to say thank you to the UTE Bargaining Team for all of the hard work, and effort that they have put in over the last 41 months as they attempted to negotiate a new contract.   Most members will never realize the frustration that they must endure during this process. Their continued patience and dedication to make improvements and protect the benefits that have been previously obtained in your contract must be applauded. Collective bargaining is the most important responsibility of the Union, and the Bargaining Team never once strayed from their responsibility.

CRA bargaining: team signs settlement

Thursday, April 28, 2016

Late Wednesday night, after 4 years of negotiations, 3 mediation sessions, a Public Interest Commission hearing and recommendation, our bargaining team signed a settlement with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). This will be submitted for a vote to the membership.

We believe this agreement is the best we will be able to achieve in the absence of a strike mandate from PSAC/UTE membership at CRA.

Over the coming days, more details will be made available with respect to the content of the settlement and voting process.

CRA bargaining: we got a settlement, but don't recommend it. Here's why.

Thursday, April 28, 2016

On Wednesday night our UTE/PSAC bargaining team signed a settlement with the Canada Revenue Agency. We did so because we believe that this is the best that our union is going to be able to achieve without receiving a strike mandate from UTE members at CRA. The team feels that it’s time that the membership have the opportunity to vote.

The settlement would improve our members’ working conditions in several ways. These improvements are the product of the hard work of our team and the membership over the course of this round of bargaining.

CRA bargaining: negotiations to reconvene in April

Thursday, March 24, 2016

Our UTE/PSAC bargaining team met with the CRA for three days of talks this week.

Unfortunately we did not reach an agreement, although we spent considerable time discussing the issues outstanding with the CRA.

The parties have jointly agreed to reconvene in negotiations from April 25 to 27. Our hope is that we might finally reach an agreement with the Agency at that time.

We’ll be sure to update you as things progress.

Madonna Z. Gardiner
2nd National Vice President, UTE
Member of the PSAC/UTE Bargaining Team
