The National Health & Safety Conference is fast approaching and will be held in Ottawa October 12-14, 2018. The committee is looking forward to meeting the health and safety activist and sharing information and hearing from the local committee members.
The next National Health & Safety Policy meeting will be held September 13, 2018.
We continue to work diligently on the workplace violence file and are in the process of sending out a call letter to the field seeking interested parties to be “competent persons”.
We no longer are using Regional Osh Officers as “competent persons” in the field.
Getting “competent persons” assigned to files continues to be a challenge, as it is with all government departments, as we have a limited number of “competent persons” to choose from, however we continue to work to resolve this issue.
