PSAC/UTE Bargaining Team spends week in talks with Canada Revenue Agency.

This past week (November 26th through 29th) your bargaining team spent four days in contract talks with CRA.  The parties much of the time discussing recent changes at CRA:

  • CRA’s announcement that it is unilaterally outsourcing records storage to a private company
  • job cuts stemming from the Harper Government’s Deficit Reduction Action Plan
  • counter closures
  • and the elimination of greeter and telephone services.

We denounced these moves by CRA and the federal government and indicated that we are determined in this round of bargaining to achieve a contract that protects our jobs and the services that we provide.

To that end, we tabled bargaining proposals that would enhance the job security of PSAC/UTE members while at the same time protect the services that CRA provides tax payers.

It is clear that the Agency and the government are only interested in eliminating jobs and cutting services.  We need to protect our jobs and the services that we provide Canadians.

We also had some discussion with CRA about both staffing issues and seniority recognition.  We are scheduled to meet again in negotiations the week of December 17th.  We’ll be sure to update as things progress.

If you have any questions or concerns, speak with your union representative, and sign up for more updates.
