President's Follow-up Items - Executive Council
June 2023
  • ELECTRONIC APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP FORM

The processing of electronic application for membership forms continues to be a major challenge and remains a priority for us. In my last report, I mentioned that following the resignation of Sister Nunes, we once again find ourselves short-staffed in terms of administrative support.

As mentioned in my President's Report, the selection process to fill the administrative support position was set aside in large part due to the strike, as well as the active involvement of our Senior Labour Relations Officer, Shane O'Brien, in the negotiations.

However, I do have some very good news. At the moment I am writing these lines, we have reopened the selection process for the administrative support positions, and we are now ready to fill the two vacant positions on a permanent basis. We expect to be able to integrate these new employees in late June or early July. One of these people will now have the sole responsibility for the administration of the membership.

In addition, we still intend to offer short-term contracts of less than four (4) months to two people (UTE members) who are familiar with the Unionware platform, to help us out as soon as possible to continue reducing the backlog of files.  In this regard, discussions are underway with potential candidates.

Once again, I'd like to thank our administrative support staff for their excellent work and dedication to our members. Their work is greatly appreciated.

Respectfully submitted,

Marc Brière
National President
