1.  CALL TO ORDER OF THE SPECIAL MEETING

In attendance: Doug Gaetz, Adam Jackson, Sharon Cowie (for Kimberley Koch), Greg Krokosh, Gary Esslinger, Cosimo Crupi, Jamie vanSydenborgh, David Lanthier, Brian Oldford, Andria Cullen, Jérôme Martel, Eddy Aristil, Marc Brière, Daniel Camara, Guylène Lepage

The Special Executive Council meeting was called to order at 11:30 a.m. with President Marc Brière in the Chair.

2. HOURS OF SESSION OF THE SPECIAL MEETING

Scheduled: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

3. New Business

MOTION: Amendment to regulation No. 24.11.2- Increase to the member subsidy

BE IT RESOLVED to amend UTE Regulation 24.11.2 as follows:

24.11.2 Member Subsidy

  1. The subsidy will be awarded to a member of UTE in good standing who is 18 years of age or older.
  2. The subsidy will cover all costs associated with their travel to the country chosen by ICA to a maximum of two three thousand five hundred dollars ($23,500.00). These costs shall include; the cost of travel, obtaining Visas, vaccinations, accommodations and per diems en route and any other related costs. The subsidy doesn’t cover the reimbursement of any loss of salary.
  3. Under exceptional circumstances, the President shall have the authority, in consultation with the 1st Vice-President, to increase the amount of the subsidy.

MOTION: Donation to the Workers History Museum (WHM)

WHEREAS The Workers’ History Museum (WHM) is a registered charity not-for-profit corporation based in the National Capital Region which is dedicated to the development and preservation of workers’ history and heritage; AND

WHEREAS each year, the Museum produces a printed calendar both to publicize the work of the museum and as a fund raiser for the year to come. For the year 2023, the chosen theme for the calendar is “Skilled Tradespeople” which highlights that more women are now going into previously male dominated trades; AND

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) supports The Workers’ History Museum for its calendar for the year 2023; AND

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) sponsors this initiative in the amount of $1,000.00.
