THEME: DIVERSITY AND THE UNION
At this conference, we will:
Learn about the employer’s rights, obligations and procedures regarding Employment Systems Review.
Examine your perceptions and behaviours in relation to culture and diversity.
Examine the diverse groups of people in your community, workplace and union.
Learn how to actively engage these groups in your union.
Our objective is to continue to educate and sensitize new members to equity issues. This would include new local executive members and members of designated groups who have recently showed an interest in promoting equal opportunities or who have not previously attended an EO Conference.
The Component will fund 2 members per Local (UTE By-Law 6, Section 6)
The funding consists of:
Per Diem: 3 days (cheques sent to participants)
Hotel: 2 nights (paid directly by Component)
Travel: Advance sent directly to local (see By-Law)
Family Care Allowance is available
Loss of wages on Friday (if applicable)
There is no limit as to the number of participants who may attend the conference.
In order to assist us, we ask the Local Presidents, Local Executives, Local Committees and Network Committees to publicize the Conference by using the posters being sent to your Local by regular mail. Please indicate on the poster the contact person and the deadline date for registration.
The registration forms must be submitted to Michèle Laplante Brière at the National Office no later than September 25, 2009 either by mail, fax or electronically at email@example.com.
If further information is required, please contact Linda Cassidy at the Component office.
