REPORT OF THE SAFETY & HEALTH COMMITTEE

JUNE 2002

Chris Aylward Item 11(e)

Our committee has not met since last Council. A National Health and Safety
Policy Committee Meeting was held on May 7th. The minutes are not available.

Discussions were held on issues such as:

  • Employee Identification
  • Voluntary Communicable Disease Inoculation Program
  • Dealing with Threatening Situations
  • Detax
  • Evacuation Policy
  • Other “Custom Borders” related issues

It was agreed to form a working group on “Environmental Sensitivities:
Chemicals and Perfumes in the Workplace”.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 23rd. Following the CCRA Board of Management
approval, we will be sending out documents and / or bulletins on topics such
as:

  • Evacuation Policy (revised)
  • Tips for the Use of Laptops
  • Field Officer’s Guide and / or Safety on the Road Handbook
  • Dealing with Threatening Situations
  • Influenza Immunization

We sent out to all the locals a questionnaire on “Shiftwork and Access
to Buildings after Hours”. If some concerns are identified, we will pursue
this issue with the Employer.

Respectfully submitted,

Chris Aylward

Chairperson of the Committee
