Budget bill violates collective bargaining rights, legislates sick leave

The government tabled its Budget Implement Act (Bill C-59) today that attacks the collective bargaining rights of federal public service workers.

The Bill authorizes Treasury Board to modify collective agreements to remove sick leave and impose a short and long term disability plan outside of collective agreements. The Bill will circumvent the Public Service Labour Relations Act as well as ongoing negotiations.

Budget cuts at the Canada Revenue Agency

The message we have received from the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency highlights the significant financial stakes involved, and I understand that this situation is generating a great deal of concern among you, our members.

Job losses and lack of respect from CRA

In some cases, the employer is terminating contracts prematurely, while in others, the employer is deciding not to renew contracts that are coming to an end.
