In this edition of Union News, we are going to discuss several articles contained within the collective agreement. This includes the most recent changes to our collective agreement along with changes in place because of negotiations during the past few rounds of collective bargaining.

Late yesterday afternoon, we were informed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) that the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat had informed them that the federal government had decided to increase the mandatory presence in the office of its public service workers to four days a week as of July 6, 2026, while executives will be required to be in the office five days a week as of May 4, 2026.
A few minutes later, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) sent us the same news.

By now you must have heard that our bargaining team has declared an impasse in our negotiations. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has responded by expressing their “disappointment.” This is rather rich and ironic, given that they have refused to meaningfully engage on any of our major issues.
On November 13, 2020, the recently ratified collective agreement was signed by the members of the Union of Taxation Employees’ bargaining team along with members of the Canada Revenue Agency’s bargaining team. Effective on that date all provisions contained in the newly negotiated contract came into effect.
In November 2020, a new collective agreement was signed between the Union of Taxation Employees and the Canada Revenue Agency. The December 2020 edition of the Union News had an extensive article explaining additions to the collective agreement along with changes negotiated to existing language in the collective agreement.
