Report of the Ad-Hoc UMA/Conflict Resolution Committee

Report of the Ad-Hoc UMA/Conflict Resolution Committee
June 2017

Doug Gaetz

The National Committee met April 18 to April 20, 2017. We established a working group and met over that period to review the training and came up with options to present to the National Committee on May 24, 2017.

The Agency Management Committee (AMC) is asking that the committee, and by extension this working group, use creativity in how UMA is communicated and delivered. The National UMA Committee tasked this working group with the following:

  • Evaluate relevance of the UMA training product content;
  • Do a crosswalk with Canada School of Public Services (the School) offerings, and;
  • Evaluate effectiveness of delivery model;
  • Provide the national committee with options.

AMC has express that they support the philosophy of the UMA but feels that there maybe better ways on the governess of the approach and this the reason why they tasked the working group with the above.

They also informed us that any training that is now done within CRA, has to be looked at within the scope of the Canada School of Public Services and to see if training can be incorporated through the school.

The working group report will be discussed in detail at the next National Joint Committee meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Doug Gaetz
