The Equal Opportunity Committee has not met since the last Executive Council meeting in December 2016. However, the committee is scheduled to meet in Ottawa, March 1st and 2nd. This will be the first meeting of the committee with the newly appointed equity members. During this meeting the Employer will be providing a half day training session to the committee called “positive space” training.
Since the December 2016 council report we have had a few changes in the alternate positions. Brother Varinder Johal, who was the 1st alternate for the GLBT equity group and 1st alternate for the PWD equity group resigned as of January 17, 2017. Therefore, Sister Nicole Frandsen has moved from 2nd alternate for the GLBT equity group to 1st alternatge and Sister Mary Ellen Lucier has now been appointed as the 2nd alternate. As well, Brother Tony Crupi has moved up to 1st alternate for the PWD group and Sister Stephane Ekanga has now been appointed as the 2nd alternate.
The PSAC National Equity Conferences will be held March 24-28, 2017 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. The UTE delegates list was submitted to PSAC in November 2016. The delegates were advised as of the first week of February.
