Denis Lalancette
The members of the Honours and Awards Committee held a conference call on February 2, 2016. The following committee members were present: Gesine Campbell, Wayne Little, Co-Chair, Denis Lalancette, Committee Chair, and Louise Dorion, staff member.
The items on the agenda included:
1) Deadline for the Betty Bannon Health and Safety Award
2) Communication
4) Dates for the July committee meeting
3) Application for the Betty Bannon Health and Safety award
5) Application for the Godfroy Côté award
The members agreed that, with respect to awarding the health and safety award, the time frame is far too long if the intention is to present the award during a Presidents’ Conference. At present, this award is given to the recipient only nine months after the recommendation is received. The committee will discuss this problem at their July meeting. A discussion item about the plaques for the achievement awards will be presented to the Executive Council in March. There were a few communication problems, and the members agreed to look into them. The members wish to have the dates for the July scholarships meeting as soon as possible; they will determine the date during the March Presidents’ Conference. The Chair thanked the committee members, Louise Dorion and the interpreters.

After consultation, and in cooperation with the Health and Safety Committee, the Honours and Awards Committee recommends that, in keeping with Regulation 24.9, …..to come later………… receive the Award of Merit in the Field of Health and Safety - Elizabeth (Betty) Bannon.
