The Conference objectives are:
- Inspire participants to evaluate their activism; and
- Encourage participants to become more active; and
- Provide participants with the tools required to empower action.
These objectives will be achieved through plenary sessions and a workshop. This will be an opportunity for you to network with other equity group members and others.
The UTE will fund two (2) members per Local.
Funding will consist of:
Per Diem: four (4) days (cheque sent to the participants); and
Hotel: three (3) nights (paid directly by the UTE); and
Travel: advance sent directly to the Local (2x Air Canada Flex airfare); and
Family care allowance, if required; and
Loss of salary.
Note: Participants are reminded that we have guaranteed a specific number of hotel rooms for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. In return for this guarantee, the hotel has agreed to waive the cost of meeting rooms. As result, participants are expected to attend all sessions of the Conference and not cancel the hotel room or alter the arrangements. In the event of an emergency that could affect the hotel room or arrangements, please contact your RVP. Also and if a participant does not attend all sessions of the Conference, she / he will waive her / his per diem for each day she / he is not attending a session.
The conference is intended for UTE equity group members who have limited or no knowledge / experience of employment equity. However, we strongly encourage Locals to send observers who demonstrate an interest in employment equity.
