MOTION: DEVELOPMENT AND LAUNCH OF A UTE MOBILE APPLICATION

Whereas a UTE mobile application would enable fast, direct, and centralized communication with members; and
Whereas better communication strengthens members’ trust in their union; and
Whereas a mobile application would give members simplified, real-time access to union information; and
Whereas simplified access promotes member autonomy; and
Whereas a mobile application can become a tool for mobilization; and
Whereas better-informed and more engaged members are more active and show greater solidarity; and
Whereas the launch of a UTE mobile application would demonstrate to members that the union is adapting to current digital realities and is focused on the future and innovation; and
Whereas a UTE mobile application would provide UTE with a modern tool and meet the expectations of new generations of members; and
Whereas a UTE mobile application would allow for better management of urgent or sensitive situations; and
Whereas a UTE mobile application would offer strong data protection and enhanced confidentiality; and
Whereas a UTE mobile application represents a cost-effective investment in the medium and long term that would reduce printing and mailing costs; and
Whereas a UTE mobile application would allow for greater inclusivity and reach a larger number of members, regardless of their circumstances.
Be it resolved that the UTE Executive Council approves the development and launch of a UTE mobile application; and
Be it further resolved that the UTE Executive Council approves an overspending of
$125,000.00 for the “Computers & Electronics” budget line item to enable the development
and launch of the UTE mobile application.
