As per the agreement, the Tech Change Committee is to meet twice a year normally in November and May of each year. Due to scheduling issues the November meeting had to be rescheduled due to employer’s schedule.
After numerous attempts a meeting was held on February 6, 2025. At this meeting UTE pushed for updates on AI and impact on users (members).
UTE requested further information on tracking tools being used in some Tax Centres and implementing software changes that could affect our members. The employer is to come back at next meeting with updates on the tool being used as an in/out board and impact of bots on staff.
We also discussed that any tech change relating to Call Centres needs to be discussed at this committee as well as at Call Centre Committee meetings.
As they were always saying that they didn’t need to discuss it here because we have another committee to deal with it. Moving forward this should change.
An update on the new CAS system was discussed and we will be kept informed as soon as new developments arise. Still in testing phase and not anticipated to be implemented for at least another year.
CRA also gave a final update on T1 modernization saying all seems to have gone well and great feedback on its deployment.
Committee also requested an update on changes in ITB scheduling group being affected with activation of software allowing users to do their own scheduling. This change could affect a number of UTE members. The update implied they anticipate a possible change in reporting for about 10-12 SP members. ITB is still assessing the impact on staffing and will report back to committee.
Respectfully submitted,
