OBJECTIVES:
- To provide tools and resources to Workplace Health and Safety Committee members and Health and Safety Representatives in order to assist them in their duties;
- To better equip participants on effective communication and collaboration;
- To provide information on the fundamentals of health and safety issues.
Participants to the National Conference, funded by UTE, must be a member of their local Workplace Health and Safety Committee or a Health and Safety Representative as defined in the Canada Labour Code (CLC). However, per an amendment to UTE By-Law 8 that was passed at the 2021 UTE Convention, each UTE Local that has only one Workplace Health and Safety Committee may select a second nationally-funded participant. This second participant does not need to be a member of a Workplace Health and Safety Committee or act as a Health and Safety Representative, but experience or interest in health and safety would be beneficial.
Please note that it will be an interactive conference where participants will be encouraged to fully participate.
FUNDING FOR DELEGATES:
UTE will pay for one member from each Workplace Health and Safety Committee or Health and Safety Representative as defined in the CLC. Please consult the list attached. Per an amendment to UTE By-Law 8 that was passed at the 2021 UTE Convention, a second participant will be funded nationally for each UTE Local that has only one Workplace Health and Safety Committee.
NOTE:
Locally-funded participants are also encouraged to apply. However, due to space limitations, the number of participants funded by the locals may be limited. Local Presidents will be required to rank these locally-funded participants in order of priority and will be notified if space is not available for all.
Per Diem: An advance for per diems will be sent by direct deposit directly to the participants (4 days) (Regulation 13). UTE National will not pay any per diem to nationally-funded participants attending the conference virtually.
Hotel: Paid directly by UTE
Family Care: Paid as per Regulation 21
Loss of Wages: As per Regulation 13
Travel Time: If you require travel time greater than 3.75 hours, you must get prior approval from the 1st National Vice-President (Regulation 13)
Travel Grant: Travel grant EFTs (2 times flex) (Regulation 13) will be sent to the locals in September 2024. UTE National will not provide a travel grant to locals whose nationally-funded participants choose to participate virtually.
For your information, more details pertaining to the delegates expenses and claims will be provided directly to the delegate at a later date.
ATTENDANCE:
Attending in person: Participants shall refrain from using scented shampoos, deodorants, soaps, perfumes, aftershaves, etc., during all activities related to the conference.
