3. Review of the Employer’s Policy
The members reviewed the document. Sister Paquette will verify that the latest version of the policy is posted on the UTE web site.
4. Review of the Evaluation of the Canada Revenue Agency Employee Assistance Program – Final Report and Highlights
Brother Gaetz provided the members with an overview of the process that was taken to assess the CRA EAP program along with the difficulty encountered with the consultant. Further information was provided on the actions taken by the Employer to have this assessment completed.
5. Review of the 2007-2008 EAP Statistics
The Employer has forwarded the statistical information on the EAP utilization. The members reviewed the annual overview (2007-2008) and the three (3) years overview (2005-2008).
6. Review of the EAP Counseling Services Client Satisfaction Questionnaire
We reviewed the national report of the EAP counseling services clients’ satisfaction questionnaire. For the period of April 2007 to March 2008, the overall satisfaction of the quality of services was rated very good.
7. Review of the new LAC Activity Log and the LAC EAP Promotional Activity Planning Tool
The Employer is proposing a template to monitor the activities of the LAC. This tool will be useful in demonstrating the wide variety of the activities of the LAC and their important role. The details of the log include information on the number of meetings and the participants; the promotional activities such as orientation and information sessions and the distribution of promotional items. The LAC will have to report twice a year which will increase their accountability. The committee members are satisfied with this document and we believe that it will be useful.
8. Preparation for the National EAP Advisory Committee Meeting of November 13, 2008
The members of the committee reviewed the documentation and the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting. Brother Gaetz prepared some questions to be raised during the meeting.
9. UTE Convention Resolutions:
a) National EAP Conference
A resolution was carried to hold a National EAP Conference.
The following dates will be presented to the National President, Sister Bannon.

October 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2010

NOTE: The dates in May 2010 were changed to May 6th to May 9th 2010.
b) Referral Agents
At the 2008 Triennial Convention, it was reaffirmed that UTE does not support the use of referral agents. This position will be relayed to the Employer. Brother Gaetz will submit an article to the UTE Communications Committee on this topic.
10. 2003 Membership Questionnaire
The members reviewed the questions on the 2003 Membership Questionnaire and will propose some changes along with new questions to the UTE Communications Committee.
Brother Gaetz will ask the National President that a questionnaire be prepared and sent to the locals for distribution to the LAC representatives. The last time the EAP committee has conducted a questionnaire was in 2005. The committee members believe that it is important to have updated information. Moreover, we would like to solicit ideas and subjects of interest for the next UTE National Conference that will be held in 2010. We hope to send the questionnaire in January 2009.
