1. Combined Affected Employee List / Preferred Status Report

Management provided the Union with an updated list of employees currently on the Affected and Preferred Status List prior to the meeting and it was noted that there were 287 unresolved cases on the list.  The Union requested that employees on sick leave be treated the same as employees in the workplace.  Management replied that decisions could be made as an employees return to work date approached and these situations would continue to be looked at on a case by case basis.

The Union requested clarification on the comments about some employees (39, 41 and 282) on the list.

Management would look into the request and respond to UTE.

2. National Updates

Management stated that the attrition rate and demographics continued to look positive and the staffing management plan and staffing exceptions committee had been helpful.  Senior management continued to emphasize the importance of placing employees affected by WFA.  The Union agreed that CRA was successful in securing placement for their members.

3. Update on Cost Containment Plan (CCP)

Management stated that five employees remained on the list following CCP initiatives and four of these employees were on sick leave.  One employee would shortly be presented with a reasonable job offer.

4. Update on Records Management

The Union asked if Management had any additional information on the potential opportunities available to SP-01 employees.

Management answered that regional management teams were looking at the possibilities for promotional opportunities for these employees and encouraged employees to get their competencies and apply for selection processes.

UTE enquired if Management had made a decision about offering options to these employees, or could provide information around the timeframe of this decision.  In addition, they were concerned that the information provided to employees needed to be clear and easy to understand.

Management stated that a decision had not been made at this time.  There were tools and resources available to employees including a presentation on options and if options were to be offered to employees, they would be provided with a contact in Compensation.

The Union asked if they could be informed before opting letters are provided.  Management agreed.

CLOSING REMARKS

Both parties expressed their appreciation for the positive discussions and looked forward to the next meeting.
