Report of the Health and Safety Committee

December 2007

Chris Aylward Item 11(e)

The committee has not met since last the council meeting. The next NHSPC meeting is scheduled for December 10, 2007, attached is the agenda.

The issue of the laser printers has been responded to by the employer. A Health Canada study has determined that the particles from Laser Printers pose no danger, the memo has been issued by ITB and a further memo has been issued by Human Resources to the Regional OSH advisors.

Brother Pierre Mulvihill and I met with employer representatives on Nov. 26th. to discuss the issue of Business Resumption Plans and the sharing of such plans. The employer will respond at the next NHSPC meeting Dec. 10th, the locals will be advised as to the employers response.

The issue of the Indoor Air Quality at 875 Heron Rd. in Ottawa is being reviewed by an independent expert recommended by UTE, Ted Nathanson. It is expected that Mr. Nathanson will report his findings in December.

In solidarity,

Respectfully submitted,

Chris Aylward
Chairperson of the Committee
