Report of the Honours and Awards Committee

December 2008

Terry Dupuis Item 11(g)

The committee met on November 14th to make a selection for the ICA trip to Cameroon. The successful applicant was, the Student, Andrea Fandrich  from Lethbridge who is taking Nursing.

Our successful Member is Paula Benoit from the Sudbury Local. Once again we had terrific applications, and we would hope that everyone that applied do so again, and we thank all of the interested parties for their support to this great charity.

The committee then reviewed the Regulation 24, and we are making the following recommendation.

Recommendation #1

Add to administration.

24.1(5) all recipients of UTE member awards must be a member in good standing.

The committee would also like to change the following in the ICA requirements: That the essay be 400 to 700 words or an audio or video submission no longer than 4 minutes. The current essay requirement is 500 words.

The member must be a member in good standing.

Preference shall be given to members or students who have never been on this trip sponsored by UTE.

I also want to take this time to welcome our new members of the committee, Dianne Rayner and Robin Johnson.  They did a wonderful job on their 1st meeting, and I would also like to thank Denis for his contribution as well. My last thank you, but not least goes out to Sylvie Bastien, once again she outdid herself with the wonderful organization of the files, Sylvie is a Godsend to our committee, thank you Sylvie.

Respectfully submitted,

Terry Dupuis,
Chair of the Committee
