Jean-Pierre Fraser Item 11(g)
The committee met on October 18 and 19, 2011. The purpose of our meeting was to finish the agenda from the August 2011 meeting and deal with new items.
The committee checked the UTE scholarship guidelines and suggested slight changes to them (see recommendation 1). The committee also reviewed the various types of letters sent to candidates. We also discussed the possibility of increasing the amount of the scholarships in view of the increase in tuition fees over the past ten years. A recommendation in that connection will be submitted to the council in March 2012.
The committee also reviewed regulation 24 and will suggest changes at the March 2012 council.
The committee looked at the applications received for taking part in the ICA trip. We received one student application that met the criteria. The selected student is Michael Gardiner from Torbay, Newfoundland. We received two member applications. Only one application was retained for review, and the selected member is Jolaine Richardson from Saint John, NB.
The committee reviewed an application for granting life membership to one member. After evaluation, we recommended that it be accepted (see recommendation 2).
The committee reviewed the potential of putting links on our website in order to have biographies and photos of all past presidents of our component since it was created (see recommendation 4).
The committee reviewed the potential of putting links on our website in order to have the names and photos of all former members of the executive council since it was created (see recommendation 5).
The committee did a complete check of the committee’s website and will follow up with the national office about the possibility of making changes (links, biographies, minutes, etc.)
The committee questioned the relevance of keeping the Al Lough award in its regulations since this award has never been assigned and since the requirements are the same as those for the Godfroy Côté award.
The committee received an email application for the certificate of merit Godfroy Côté.
The committee recommends that the award Godfroy Côté be granted.
