ACS Sub Committee Report
Meetings were held with the Employer on October 5th and November 16th.
The October 5th meeting was scheduled to deal exclusively with the proposed MOU regarding the possibility of job content issues. Brothers MacDonald and O’Brien and I meet with the employer to discuss the parameters surrounding the agreement. Several daft documents have been sent back and forth and hopefully by Executive Council this agreement will be signed. The tentative details would see all locals have from Jan 31st to Feb 28th to gather any job content issues from their membership and submit them to the National Office. The National Office would then commit to an in-depth analysis and review of these comments and would have our submissions to the employer by the first of May. The employer would then have until Oct 31st to answer and make corrections to the descriptions. The formal grievance period would then kick in on November 1st. A copy of the MOU will be attached to every job description so that all the members will be aware of the specifics.
During the meeting in November discussions were held on the actual ACS Standard. The employer advised that the Draft Gender Neutrality Reviews were back and they shared the preliminary results with the Union. It should be noted that both the Quantitative and Qualitative reviews were completed and they were consistent in their comments.
The employer then shared the percentage values for the elements and the Union requested the point values and levels be shared as quickly as possible. The percentage only allow a restricted evaluation of the standard, the point values will allow us to review the standard to ensure the classifications are fair.
On a final note the sessions for the SP Contacts rolled out successfully and hopefully the January sessions with all employees will proceed as planned. The employer is working on the Video currently with Brother Lalancette being taped December 7th and Sister Bannon and myself being taped next week.
Visit often, and send us your comments to the email@example.com if you have any problems.
