The committee met in Ottawa October 28-29/02 and the minutes of that meeting have been distributed in a bulletin.

The committee also met with the employer on October 28 to discuss the “Preferred Status Directive” in regards to this document being finalized for the field. The Committee is frustrated by the employer’s commitment to this process and their unwillingness to include “affected” employees on the “Preferred Status List”. It was decided that the Committee would review the “draft” proposed by the employer and submit our views.

The Committee met with affected members from the Ottawa TC on their affected status as a result of the employer’s warehouse initiative. It is apparent to the committee that these members are frustrated. The Local has set up a joint WFA committee with the employer and it is hoped that this will ensure that these members will be placed in other jobs within NCR.

The main purpose of the Committee was to draft “suggested” terms of reference for joint local WFA committees. These terms of reference have been sent to the field attached to a WFA bulletin.

The chair of the committee has now heard from all regions in the country on the Client Services initiative in regards to call centres. The Committee requests that RVPs and locals continue to contact the Committee on this and other WFA situations.

The chair has continued meeting with Southern Ontario senior management on the Client Services Delivery Model. It appears that this initiative will be wound up early in the New Year. However, there remains some members who have not been placed as a result of the WFAA and both the chair and locals involved with continue working the members and management.
