The Special Executive Council meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. with President Marc Brière in the Chair.

3. NEW BUSINESS
MOTION: To extend the Toronto East, Local 00001 Trusteeship

Whereas Toronto East Local 00001 is approaching the 180-days deadline of trusteeship and requires renewal (November 4, 2022).
Be resolved that as per By-Law 13 the Toronto East Local 00001 trusteeship be extended for another 180 days effective November 2, 2022.

MOTION: Request for a donation - Sister Magali Picard’s campaign.

Whereas Sister Magali Picard is a candidate for the presidency of the largest federation of labour in Quebec, the Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec (FTQ); and
Whereas Sister Picard would become the first woman, and the first Indigenous person, to lead Quebec's 600,000-plus member union; and
Whereas the Sister is known across Canada for having led a long battle against the failures of the Phoenix pay system; and
Whereas the Sister is a long-time ally of the Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) and shares our values;
Be it resolved that UTE makes a donation of $5000.00 to the campaign of Sister Magali Picard; and
Be it further resolved that this donation does not commit the UTE delegates to support the candidate.
MOTION: to amend the motion

Be it resolved that UTE makes a donation of $1500.00 to the campaign of Sister Magali Picard;
MOTION: CARRIED
Be it resolved that the amended motion be adopted
