The Executive Committee met on December 7, 2021. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m. President Marc Brière was presiding.
In attendance: Brother Doug Gaetz, First Vice-President
Brother Adam Jackson, Second Vice-President
Sister Kimberley Koch, Regional Vice-President, Pacific Region
There was one item on the agenda:
- A motion to award the Marguerite Stonehouse Memorial Scholarship (Labour College of Canada Scholarship) for the year 2022 to Brother Nicholas Thompson.
After some discussion, the motion was put to the committee, moved by Brother Gaetz and seconded by Brother Jackson.

MARGUERITE STONEHOUSE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (LABOUR COLLEGE OF CANADA SCHOLARSHIP) AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2022 TO BROTHER NICHOLAS THOMPSON
Whereas Brother Nicholas Thompson is a member in good standing of the Union of Taxation Employees and a very active member of the Executive of Local 00048 Toronto North;
Whereas Brother Thompson has applied to the Labour College of Canada (LCC) Certificate Program;
Whereas the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) has accepted Brother Nicholas Thompson as a successful recipient for the 2022-2023 LCC Certificate Program;
Whereas UTE Regulation No. 23 – Marguerite Stonehouse Memorial Scholarships (Labour College of Canada Scholarship) requires the UTE Executive Committee to award the scholarships by taking into account the recommendations made by the Labour College of Canada Selection Committee;
Be it resolved that based on UTE National President’s recommendation, the UTE Executive Committee approves the nomination of Brother Nicholas Thompson as a successful recipient for the 2022-2023 CLC’s Labour College of Canada Certificate Program and grants him with the Marguerite Stonehouse Memorial Scholarship for the year 2022 as per UTE Regulation No. 23.
- Recorded Vote #1. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
