Andrea Holmes, our committee technical advisor, and myself met with the employer on September 28th for the NEEDIC committee meeting; we received the invite at the last minute from UTE source, so only Andrea and I were able to attend this meeting.
The Agenda covered the following:
- A presentation on “Building Diversity Consciousness into Compliance”
- Guest speaker, Commissioner, Bob Hamilton
Status updates regarding the following:
- National Indigenous Employee Network
- Visible Minority Network
- LGBTQ2+ Network
- Women’s Collaborative Network
- Persons with Disabilities Network
- Status update regarding the Accessibility project
- National Employment Equity Non-EX Staffing
The UTE Equal Opportunities Committee met October 6th, and November 17th, to establish our objectives, themes for the Regional and National Conferences, and ideas for locations.
A Special Executive Council meeting was held Monday November 22, 2021, to vote on the recommended dates and cities for the Regional Conferences; with their approval the following dates and cites have been approved:
- April 29-30, Toronto- Greater Toronto, Southwestern Ontario, Northern and Eastern Ontario
- May 13-14, Vancouver– Pacific, Rocky Mountains, Prairie
- June 17-18, Halifax- NCR, Quebec, Montreal, Atlantic
