OBJECTIVES:

  • To provide tools and resources to Work Place Health and Safety Committee members and Health and Safety Representatives in order to assist them in their duties in a hybrid (onsite/virtual) work environment;
  • To better equip participants when they encounter psychological hazards, harassment or violence in the workplace;
  • To provide information on current health and safety issues.

Participants to the National Conference, funded by UTE, must be a member of their local Work Place Health and Safety Committee or a Health and Safety Representative as defined in the Canada Labour Code (CLC). However, per an amendment to UTE By-Law 8 that was passed at this year’s UTE Convention, each UTE Local that has only one Work Place Health and Safety Committee may select a second nationally-funded participant. This second participant need not be a member of a Work Place Health and Safety Committee or act as a Health and Safety Representative, but experience or interest in health and safety would be beneficial.

Please note that it will be an interactive conference where participants will be encouraged to fully participate.

FUNDING:

UTE will pay for one member from each Work Place Health and Safety Committee or Health and Safety Representative as defined in the CLC. Please consult the list attached. Per an amendment to UTE By-Law 8 that was passed at this year’s UTE Convention, a second participant will be funded nationally for each UTE Local that has only one Work Place Health and Safety Committee.

NOTE:

Locally-funded participants are also encouraged to apply. However, due to space limitations, the number of participants funded by the locals may be limited. Local Presidents will be required to rank the locally-funded participants in order of priority and will be notified if space is not available for all.

Per Diem:          UTE National will not pay any per diem to delegates attending the UTE   National Health and Safety Conference as they will be attending from home.

Family Care:     Paid as per Regulation 21

Loss of Wages: For delegates attending the Conference, UTE National will reimburse the full day's salary for each day (Tuesday to Friday). Expenses for locally-funded participants will be the responsibility of each local.

A copy of the agenda will be provided prior to the conference.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mathieu Juneau or Doug Gaetz at the National Office.
