The committee met on May 25 via a conference call to vote on 2 recommendations, the first to fill 2 administrative positions and the second to award a scholarship to participate in the Canadian Labour College LCC Certificate Program.
NOMINATION OF TWO (2) ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS
m/s Doug Gaetz / Gary Esslinger
Whereas, as a result of an unexpected staff departure to accept a promotion within the PSAC, we now have two vacant Administrative Assistant positions; and
Whereas current volumes of work necessitate filling both of these vacant positions on an interim basis; and
Whereas the Management Team has recommended hiring one indeterminate Administrative Assistant to replace the departing employee on a full-time basis; and
Whereas the Senior Labour Relations Officer and Executive Assistant have conducted a selection process to staff both Term positions and have identified two suitable candidates.
Be it resolved that offers of term employment for a period not to exceed four (4) months be offered to Natasha Larose and Julie Gomes.
REGULATION NO. 23 - MARGUERITE STONEHOUSE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS (LABOUR COLLEGE OF CANADA SCHOLARSHIP)
m/s Doug Gaetz / Gary Esslinger
Whereas based on National President’s recommendation, CLC has accepted Sister Crystal Isaac as a successful recipient for the 2018 CLC Labour College program; and
Whereas Regulation 23 requires the Executive Committee of UTE to award the scholarships by taking into account the recommendations made by the Labour College of Canada Selection Committee; and
Whereas Sister Isaac is a very active member on her executive and within the local.
Be it resolved that the Executive Committee approves the nomination of Sister Crystal Isaac and grants the Marguerite Stonehouse Memorial Scholarship as per Regulation 23.
Respectfully submitted,
Marc Brière
