Report of the Ad-Hoc UMA/Conflict Resolution Committee

Union Management Approach (UMA) Committee
Report of the Ad-Hoc UMA/Conflict Resolution Committee
June 2018

Eddy Aristil

Hello,

I am very pleased to inform the council that, on April 25, 2018, the AdHoc UMA/ICR Committee finished its work and sent its recommendations to the CRA authorities.  In the weeks that followed, namely May 14, 2018, our President Marc Brière, Commissioner Bob Hamilton, and the Deputy Commissioner did the official signing for implementing the UMA.  I am pleased to find that there is genuine commitment on both sides for developing and maintaining a good union-management relationship.

The committee agreed on providing two pilot sessions (French/English) to ensure that the training truly meets the needs in the field before offering it to everyone.

As of yet, no date has been set for an official launch and giving access to everyone.

Also, the committee held an initial meeting on ICR in April.  We reviewed the process.  I can’t say, at this time, what direction the committee will take, but rest assured that my goal is for us to review that training as a whole, like we did for the UMA.

In closing, I would like to thank Doug Gaetz, my co-chair on the committee, for all the support he has given me.  It’s a real pleasure working with Doug and benefiting from his knowledge and vast experience.  Thanks Doug.

Respectfully submitted,

Eddy Aristil
Chair of the Committee
