Report of the Staffing Committee
June 2018

Jérôme Martel

Since the last meeting, we received several requests to provide input on job descriptions and competency profiles.

Shane and I took part in a conference call on April 25, 2018, during which the CRA announced to us that it wants to review the staffing program as a whole. There is a lot of support from senior management at the CRA. A working group has been established that includes union representatives from the UTE and the AFS-PIPSC group, representatives from the CRA and NHQ regions.

I would like to thank the members of the National Staffing Committee who did a very good job, as well as our technical advisor who does very important work on the committee.

The committee met from May 15 to 17, 2018, to discuss various issues including: various staffing issues, the initiative to review the staffing program, a potential workshop at the next Presidents’ Conference, ways of informing union representatives and members about staffing issues, and the 12 staffing irritants that had been identified at our October 20, 2017 meeting (during which we developed the staffing-related contract demands).

The minutes from the last National Staffing Committee meeting will be distributed to everyone soon.

Thank you

Respectfully submitted,

Jérôme Martel
Chair of the Committee
