1.  Review of the previous minutes

The Committee reviewed both the Committee’s previous minutes and the minutes of the Joint Committee meeting from March 30 2015.

2.  Review Agenda for the afternoon Joint Committee meeting

The agenda items are:

  1. Updated Terms of Reference
  2. Combined Affected Employee and / or Preferred Status list
  3. Update on Service Renewal
  4. Discussion as to what is and isn’t happening with Service Renewal
  5. Future WFA Notifications Processes

1)  Updated Terms of Reference

We signed a new Terms of Reference for the committee in May 2016. This is an employer agenda item and we will wait to hear from the employer this afternoon.

2)   Combined Affected Employee and/or Preferred Status list

There are currently 925 members in affected and/or preferred status. The following is a breakdown per region:

Atlantic                     229 members
Quebec                      69 members
Ontario                     409 members
Head Office                 4 members
Prairies                         5 members
Pacific                      209 members

The RVP’s will be sent a copy of the Regional list.  (Note: The National list is broken down per region and not per office as in the past.  Thus, the regional breakdown is per the employer’s regions.)

3)  Update on Service Renewal

We are looking for an update on Service Renewal, hopefully the employer will have more information then it did when it announced this initiative on November 17, 2016.

4)   Discussion as to what is and isn’t happening with Service Renewal

This is the first opportunity for the committee to meet with the employer and address our concerns with respect to the lack of information provided to UTE on November 17, 2017 when Service Renewal was announced.

5) Future WFA Notifications Processes

The committee is looking for assurances from the CRA that future WFA Notifications will go back to the way things have been done over the past 20 years.

3.  Roundtable

Sister Greenough, indicated that the TC Presidents she had spoken to confirmed that local management was doing its best to provide the Local with as much information on Service Renewal as it could and that consultations were taking place in a timely fashion. Brother Bourdon requested that the committee members be provided with any Regional WFA minutes that get forwarded to the National Office, Brother Blair stated that will be done in the future.
