On February 9, the inauguration of the new federal building in Shawinigan took place, an event that brought together several key political and institutional players.
Among those in attendance were François‑Philippe Champagne, Minister responsible for Finance and National Revenue and Member of Parliament for Saint‑Maurice—Champlain; Deputy Commissioner Jean‑François Fortin; Shawinigan Mayor Yves Lévesque; the mayors of neighbouring municipalities; as well as several dignitaries and representatives of the Indigenous communities of the territory.
The national president, Marc Brière, was also present. Members had the opportunity to speak directly with their national president and share their concerns, particularly regarding the increase of the mandatory on‑site presence to four days per week.
Marc Brière and Julien Nobert also gave several interviews to regional media outlets, primarily on this issue of increased in‑office presence and its concrete impacts on working conditions.
On the sidelines of the event, Marc Brière met with the minister to convey our concerns and to highlight the realities experienced by our members on the ground.
