Sisters, Brothers and Friends,
At 9:15 p.m. tonight, the PSAC National President, Chris Aylward, announced that a deal had not been reached with Treasury Board or CRA. As the deadline has passed, all 155,000 PSAC members, including more than 35,000 UTE members, are on strike as of 12:01 AM ET April 19th.
All members, except those of you who are deemed as essential workers, are expected to report to a picket line. You can attend the nearest picket line and scan in with your personalized barcode or PSAC ID when you arrive. If you don’t have this information, you can simply report to a picket line and a member of the PSAC team onsite will help you sign in manually. Your PSAC regional office may have already reached out to you about specific details for a picket line near you.
The clock has now run out on the government.
You have been there for this government and Canadians and it’s more than time for the government to be there for you.
You deserve to be treated with respect. You deserve fair wages that keep up with inflation and decent working conditions.
The Federal Government is the largest employer in the country and should lead by example.
I want to thank each and every one of you for all your hard work and your ongoing support to your union and your bargaining team.
Let’s continue to show our unwavering support to our bargaining team.
Let’s stand together and we will prevail.
In solidarity,
Marc Brière
