Dear Sisters, Brothers, and Friends,
I am honoured and excited to introduce myself as your new National Vice-President, Equal Opportunities.
I would also like to acknowledge our Equal Opportunities leadership team, including Co-Chair Darlene Bembridge and President's Representative Priya Chundunsing. I look forward to working alongside them to advance equity, inclusion, and meaningful engagement across our union.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. I am committed to ensuring that every member feels heard, respected, and valued. Our union is strengthened by the diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences of our members, and it is important that those voices help shape the work we do.
I encourage Local Presidents to connect with members from equity-seeking groups and support them in bringing forward their concerns, experiences, ideas, and recommendations. Members are always welcome to reach out directly to me or to the Equal Opportunities Committee. Your input is essential and will help guide our efforts to create positive and lasting change.
One of my priorities is fostering safe, respectful, and inclusive spaces where members feel comfortable sharing their experiences. I want every member to know that their voice matters. I am committed to listening, learning, and doing everything within my power to advocate for equity, remove barriers, and help create a union where everyone feels welcomed and supported.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role and look forward to working with all of you. Together, we can continue building a stronger, more inclusive union for everyone.
