Sisters, Brothers, and Friends,
Tomorrow, April 29, Treasury Board bargaining teams representing other members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will be returning to the bargaining table. They are asking their members to show support to their bargaining teams by wearing black clothing.
While the UTE bargaining team will not return to bargaining until May 5th, we strongly encourage our members to show support for our colleagues participating in this action. They are facing the same employer intransigence that we have experienced throughout our own negotiations.
Please note, however, that UTE will be undertaking its own action on May 5th. On that day, we will be asking our members to display our red and black colours in the workplace. These actions are about sending a clear message to the employer: they continue to underestimate the collective power of our membership, workers who deserve better wages and improved working conditions.
After eight months of negotiations with no meaningful progress, it is time to demonstrate that we are running out of patience.
Let’s stand in solidarity with our colleagues who share our frustration, and let’s also show our own strength on May 5.
On, April 29, let's stand together!
In solidarity,
