Complex T1 Adjustment Requests: Canada Is Still On Hold

UTE’s response to the Report of the Auditor General of Canada on CRA Call Centres

Sisters, Brothers, and Friends,

The Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) published a press release today regarding the long delays that continue to affect the processing of complex T1 adjustment requests at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

The Office of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsperson has announced its intention to launch a systemic examination into this situation. The CRA’s service standard is 20 weeks, but some files can take up to 47 weeks to be processed.

These delays have real consequences for taxpayers. They also confirm what UTE has been raising for a long time: taxation centres do not have enough staff to meet the demand.

Our members want to provide fast, reliable and people-centred service. To do so, they need the resources, training and support required to do their work properly.

Taxpayers deserve better. So do employees.
