Bargaining Team Makes Our Case Before Labour Board in Wage Dispute

Parties now await Board’s decision as we prepare to bargain next contract.

In May of last year our PSAC/UTE Bargaining Team met with the CRA to discuss wage increases for 2014 and 2015, consistent with our collective agreement signed at the end of 2016. Because we were unable to reach an agreement over the two days we therefore proceeded to next step under our contract – to discuss and agree upon an arbitration process.

During the summer the parties met and agreed upon an arbitration process, following which the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board selected an arbitrator for our wage dispute, consistent with our agreement.

Yesterday (January 31st) our union made our case before the Arbitration Board at the Federal Public Service Labour Relations Board in Ottawa. Now that the hearing is complete, we await the decision of the Board. The Board has two months to render its decision, unless, the parties agree otherwise.

In the meantime, the UTE Collective Bargaining Committee is reviewing the membership demands submitted by locals across the country last year in preparation for the next round of bargaining with the Agency.

We will continue to update as things progress. Be sure to go to www.ute-sei.org and www.psacunion.ca for updates.
