Arbitration Date Set for our Wage Dispute with CRA

Bargaining Team to make our case before arbitration panel end of January.

In May our PSAC/UTE Bargaining Team met with the CRA to discuss wage increases for 2014 and 2015, consistent with our collective agreement signed last year. Because we were unable to reach an agreement over the two days we therefore proceeded to next step under our contract and the law – to discuss and agree upon an arbitration process.

During the summer the parties met and agreed upon an arbitration process, following which the Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board selected an arbitrator for our wage dispute, consistent with our agreement.

Yesterday (November 15th) we received notice from the Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board that a hearing date has been set for our dispute – January 31st. Should the CRA receive a mandate to resume negotiations with us, we will be prepared to set dates and return to the bargaining table. Otherwise we will be making our case before the arbitration panel on January 31st.

In the meantime, preparations continue for the negotiation of our next collective agreement. The UTE Collective Bargaining Committee is reviewing the membership demands submitted by locals across the country earlier this year. A Negotiating Team will be established before the new year for the upcoming round.

We will continue to update as things progress. Be sure to go to www.ute-sei.org and psacunion.ca for updates. Also, should you have any questions please contact your UTE Local President.
