I am pleased to announce that the Union of Taxation Employees - Public Service Alliance of Canada (UTE-PSAC) and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) signed an agreement that agrees to implement, in the same manner and within the same timeframes, the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with regard to Damages Caused by the Phoenix Pay System, agreed to by the Treasury Board of Canada and the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
PSAC successfully negotiated a Phoenix damages settlement that is significantly better than the employer’s deal with other federal bargaining agents. Last year, PSAC rejected the government’s meagre offer of 5 days of cashable leave, which was too little and would have rewarded those who earn more while punishing workers who make less. The current agreement provides PSAC members with a fair and equitable lump sum payment of up to $2,500.
The PSAC has prepared a document which provides greater detail on the general Phoenix compensation portion of the settlement, as well as the expansion of the claims process for out-of-pocket expenses and for those who suffered major losses because of Phoenix.
Full text and additional details
When the full text and details of the agreement are ready for distribution, PSAC will make them available to all members and UTE will do the same. We will also provide additional information regarding expected timelines and other considerations as soon as possible.
In Solidarity,
Marc Brière
