Brothers and Sisters:

It has been a long time since I have written in regards to the state of our negotiations, or the lack thereof, and I have received some enquiries as to the status of them.

After the election of the new government we had to wait until the new cabinet was sworn in to see who our respective Ministers would be. After the Cabinet announcements were made known, I wrote to the Minister of National Revenue, Diane Lebouthillier, to request a meeting and to ask that the CRA return to the negotiations table with a mandate to settle our contract. I also had a conversation with Andrew Treusch, the CRA Commissioner, to advise that we are ready and willing to return to the table, as it takes two to negotiate. In addition, there are some people who are working on my behalf to set up a meeting with Scott Brison, the Treasury Board Minister. You can also contact your own federal MP and management to let them know that you are not happy with the lack of negotiations and your treatment as a dedicated public servant.

We have not been sitting back, as we know that the members want us to return to the table as soon as possible, as this round has been going on for far too long. That is why we have started a national grievance campaign to show support for the Bargaining Team and to put pressure on the CRA to return to the table. Please see a member of your local executive to get more information and to sign your own grievance.

We need to stand together to negotiate a fair contract for all of the members, now and in the future. By standing together we can achieve a fair and equitable contract.

In Solidarity,
