Re: Developmental Programs

The Staffing Committee of the Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) has been recently provided by several Locals with copies of local developmental programs. More specifically, we have been asked to review what appears to be a leadership development program initiative which seems to be increasing in popularity amongst a number of Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) offices.

Our review of these leadership development programs has identified a number of concerns that we will be raising with the appropriate representatives of the CCRA. For a list of these concerns, please refer to the UTE Staffing Committee Minutes for September 7-8, 2002.

While only several programs have been brought to our attention, we suspect that there are other leadership development programs and other types of developmental programs in place throughout various CCRA offices.

As a result, we seek your assistance in identifying if there are any developmental programs in existence in your office and in providing copies of these programs to the undersigned at the UTE National Office. We request that you also obtain from your local Human Resources representative the number of employees participating by program.

Your prompt attention to this matter would be gratefully appreciated. Should you have any questions or require any further clarification, please contact any member of the Staffing Committee or the undersigned.

In Solidarity,

D. Shane O’Brien
