RE : Workforce Adjustment (WFA) Committees

Greetings:

With the Agency’s decision to centralize compensation services, the realignment of some client services and the upcoming decisions on Administration Reform and Renewal (ARR), and as per the collective agreement, there will be a requirement to establish local and perhaps regional WFA committees. Your UTE-WFA committee has developed Terms of Reference for these WFA committees which are attached to this Bulletin.

The UTE-WFA Committee highly recommends that you have these approved as is and if the employer objects to any section, ensure you get their reasons in writing and forward them to Pierre Mulvihill at the National Office.

Our members are facing many questions and we must ensure that they receive all of the benefits they deserve. We realize that the employer will state that they will do everything to assist employees. Our reply to this statement is why not follow the WFA Appendix with all of its benefits automatically.

It is very important that you keep the UTE-WFA Committee advised, through me, of any and all developments as a result of the changes brought in by the Agency. We must be proactive in facing this situation to ensure our members are dealt with fairly without any “under the table” deals which usually blow up later.

I have also included WFA flow charts for your use and the UTE-WFA Committee encourages you to distribute them. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at mulvihp@ute-sei.org or at (613) 235-6704.

In Solidarity,

Pierre Mulvihill,
Labour Relations Officer.
