Doug was elected 1st National Vice-President for the Union of Taxation Employees at the July 2017 Triennial Convention in Ottawa. He is responsible for the Finance portfolio.
Since 1987, Doug has been actively involved with the Union in various capacities. He was elected Shop Steward of the Halifax Local in 1987 and then elected as Vice President in 1990 and subsequently elected President in 1991 of that same local; a position he held until January 2007. Doug has represented U.T.E. at a number of PSAC Conventions and Atlantic Regional Conventions. Doug was elected as Alternate Regional Vice President for the Atlantic Region in 1999 and was re-elected to the same position at the 2002 and the 2005 Triennial Conventions. Doug became the RVP in January 2007. Doug was elected RVP at the 2008 Triennial Convention.
As part of his duties as 1st National Vice-President, Doug is Chair of the Finance Committee. Doug currently is a member of the Health and Safety Committee and Co-Chair of the AD-HOC Union Management Approach (UMA) / Conflict Resolution Committee.
He was the Presidents’ representative on the National Employee Assistance Committee (EAP) for 7 years and spent 3 years as Presidents’ representative for the National Workforce Adjustment Committee.
