A vintage black alarm clock showing the time as 10:10, with the text "DEADLINE: MAY 16 – SUBMIT YOUR DEMAND" written below in bold letters. This image serves as a visual reminder for UTE members to submit their workplace demands before the May 16 deadline as part of the 2024 collective bargaining process.

As you probably know our current collective agreement is expiring this October 3. As with any other round we intend to seek improvements in wages and work/life balance.

We are in the process of soliciting demands for the package which we will submit to the employer through our on-going demand process. This is where you can become involved, and we highly encourage it. Should you know of a workplace issue that needs to be corrected, and have a potential solution, it is important to reach out to your local and speak with them about your suggestion. We have a prescribed form available online. It is important to note though, that your local executive must sign off on the suggestion before submitting. Once we have received the demands our Bargaining Committee will review them and prepare a package for submission. In the event a demand is not considered for the final package, the local will receive correspondence indicating such and the reason it was not chosen.

This ongoing-demand process will close of May 16 for this round. Any demands received after that date will be considered for the next round of bargaining.

On July 1, the PSAC will issue notice to bargain with the employer and the process starts moving. At that point, the team will be assembled and we will look for dates to meet with the employer. We expect the employer to come to the table with a fair and reasonable offer and we will, as always, push for this process to move quickly. It is of paramount importance that you sign up for updates at UTE and PSAC – we will communicate regularly throughout negotiations.

In Solidarity,
