Sister Cassidy began working for CRA (then Revenue Canada –Taxation) in January 1988.

Sister Cassidy was elected to the position of Treasurer of Local 60005 Saint John in January 1992. The following January she successfully ran for President. She was acclaimed later as the Alternate RVP Atlantic in 1996 and became RVP in November 1999, a position which she held until January 2007.

During her tenure as a member of the UTE National Executive Sister Cassidy served on the following committees, Harassment, Equal Opportunities, Staffing, Bargaining, Executive Committee and EAP.

Sister Cassidy was involved in the organizing and chairing of two National Equal Opportunities Conferences, the Regional EO Conferences and an EAP National Conference.

Sister Cassidy also represented the members on three Negotiating Teams (1999, 2002 and 2004).

In October 2006 Sister Cassidy accepted a term position at UTE and was subsequently appointed as a Labour Relation Officer in January 2007.  Sister Cassidy accepted a position with the Public Service Alliance of Canada in May 2012 as an Exclusions and Designations Officer. Sister Cassidy retired in November 2022.
