Brother Flinn was awarded Life Membership in 1999.
Brother Flinn started working for Revenue Canada in May 1965. He became involved in UTE in 1966 as a shop steward. He served as President of the Halifax and Saint John Locals. In 1978, he was elected Regional Vice President for the Atlantic. He ran unsuccessfully for National President in 1981. In 1984, Dave ran again and was elected. Being National President of UTE was a challenging and very interesting time of his life. He served as National President for 15 years, so far the longest period of time for any National President. There was never a dull moment. He is also a Life Member of the PSAC.
Brother Flinn retired from UTE and Revenue Canada in 1999.
Dave is enjoying retirement and the many benefits it brings. He still lives in Ottawa and keeps busy by touring on his Harley or in his Corvette. Dave and his wife Ellen, spend about half the winter in Florida which extends his Harley driving time. He also enjoys woodworking, cooking, gardening and reading. He is looking forward to this year’s convention. UTE has given him a lot of satisfaction over the years. He is proud to be a life member and still likes to be involved, if only to watch from the side lines.
