We are pleased to inform you that the UTE EO National Conference will be held in Ottawa, Ontario.

(To respect every participant attending the Conference, please note that juices and carbonated drinks will be served between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 and between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013)
Friday – 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Registration
Friday – 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Conference
Saturday – 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Conference
Saturday – 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – Diner
Sunday – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m –  Conference

Theme: “Past, Present, Future”

The Conference objectives are:

  • Understanding your role in employment equity;
  • Awareness of all Equity Groups: Successes and Challenges;
  • Where we have been and where we have yet to conquer.

Conference agenda

The above objectives will be achieved through plenary sessions and workshops. This will be an opportunity for you to network with other local UTE representatives.

PARTICIPANTS:

  • The Conference is intended for UTE equity group members who have limited knowledge / experience of employment equity. However, we strongly encourage Locals to send observers who demonstrate an interest in employment equity.

FUNDING: The UTE will fund two (2) delegates per Local.

  • A Travel Grant  (sent directly to the Local (2 X Flex airfare return)) and;
  • Hotel for three (3) nights (paid directly by the UTE) and;
  • Ground Transportation (advance to the delegate(s)) and;
  • Per Diem for four (4) days (advance to the delegate(s)) and;
  • Loss of salary ** and;
  • Family Care, if required, (must complete a Family Care Form).

An advance will be sent directly to the delegate(s) for:

  • Ground Transportation and;
  • Per Diem for four (4) days.    

** Loss of Salary:  Thursday – Travel Time ***
                                 Friday – 1 Full Day

*** Travel Time: All members are expected to schedule their travel arrangements in a manner that they shall not incur any expenses that are either unreasonable or not required. This time will vary from none to one day, with one day being the exception to the rule. If the delegate (s) require travel time greater than 3.75 hours, the delegate (s) must get prior approval by the 1st National Vice-President or in his absence, the National President.

There is no limit as to the number of participants who may attend the Conference.

  • Note: Participants are reminded that we have guaranteed a specific number of hotel rooms for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  In return for this guarantee, the hotel has agreed to waive the cost of meeting rooms.  As result, participants are expected to attend all sessions at the Conference and not cancel the hotel room or alter the arrangements.  In the event of an emergency that could affect the hotel room or arrangements, please contact your RVP. Also and if a participant does not attend all sessions at the Conference, she / he will waive her / his per diem for each day she / he is not attending a session.
