We’re ready and eager to start bargaining

National bargaining conference reviews bargaining input

PSAC’s Union of Taxation Employees held its national bargaining conference from May 15 to 17 in Ottawa to prepare for the next round of bargaining with the Canada Revenue Agency.

UTE members had until March 31st to submit their suggestions for changes to their collective agreement.  Over 400 proposals were submitted for consideration.

The demands package is in the process of being finalized and will be available on the PSAC web site after the union has exchanged demands the employer.

Pamela Abbott, Regional Vice-President (RVP) – Pacific, Co-chair of the UTE’s Standing Bargaining Committee and Chair of the Technological Change Committee
Chris Aylward, RVP – National Capital Region and Chair of the Health and Safety Committee
Shawn Bergeron, RVP – Prairies and Chair of the Equal Opportunities Committee
Jean-Pierre Fraser, member of the UTE Standing Bargaining Committee and President of Shawinigan-Sud local
Dave Miller, member of the UTE Standing Bargaining Committee and President of Penticton local

Next step:  Notice to bargain

PSAC will be serving notice to bargain on July 1, 2007, four months before the expiry date of the current agreement (October 31, 2007).  This is the earliest possible date that notice to bargain can be served under the new Public Service Labour Relations Act.

Information about when the union will be exchanging demands with the Agency and the start of negotiations will be provided in a future bulletin.
